New Lawrence Gallery Exhibit Features Two Artists

SVWC's Lawrence Gallery Welcomes Two Unique Artists
The SVWC Art Committee has been coordinating art exhibits in Lawrence Gallery for over ten years, and their newest exhibition marks number 84! On the walls of the Gallery, you will find the tranquil watercolors of Doris Vanderpool, who skillfully crafts a light and relaxing ambiance through her use of color and thought-provoking subjects. Based in Winchester, VA, Vanderpool is an esteemed member of both the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Shenandoah Arts Council.
In the glass showcases, resident/artist, Tom Smith displays his fascinating handcrafted baskets. He developed an interest in basket weaving while walking the beaches of Ocracoke Island, NC. - seeking a way to incorporate seashells, driftwood, and other marine objects into his woven creations. Smith enjoys working with his hands, and often the results of his work surprise even him!
An opening reception will be held on November 8 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Abbey, located above the lobby. Or...feel free to visit the Gallery any day between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. 300 Westminster-Canterbury Dr. For more information, call 540-665-0156.
