Fiber Craft Art by Charlene Shipp
Born in Chicago, Resident Charlene Shipp comes from a family of fiber artists. Since the age of seven, she has enjoyed crafting, beginning with knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch. Since then, she has become self-taught in several types of embroidery, especially the rare ones: blackwork, hardanger, pulled thread, ribbon embroidery, and several others. Before retiring, she attended a seminar that made a lasting impression on her: that during retirement, a person should continue to "work, learn, and play." She immediately set to work to do just that!
An opening reception will take place on Saturday, July 18, from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. in the Abbey above the main lobby. SVWC is located at 300 Westminster-Canterbury Dr. Call 540-665-0156 with any questions. Feel free to visit the Lawrence Gallery any day between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
