Job Summary

Makes facility and grounds security inspection rounds. Understands and operates facility emergency system. Monitors and respond to alarms, handles incoming calls to switchboard, and monitors security cameras for possible response or action. Performs light maintenance and First/Aid duties.

SALARY

Required Education, Experience, Skills, Licensure

1.          High School Diploma or GED required.

 

2.          Previous Security experience, ina commercial setting preferred.

 

3.          Valid driver’s license with goodrecord (as determined by SVWC). Must have 4 years driving experience by hiredate.

 

4.          Must be able to obtain CPR/AED/FirstAID (or higher level) certification.

 

5.          Must be at least 21 years of ageby hire date.

 

6.          Must be able to obtain andmaintain DCJS certification (or higher level).

Job Requirements

1.           Support the mission and purposesof SVWC.

2.           Support the Board of Trusteesand Administration.

3.           Follows and supports thepolicies and procedures established by SVWC.

4.           Employment and annualTuberculosis testing as required by Virginia State Licensure.

5.           Must attend annual mandatory in-servicesrequired by the State Licensure and all other mandatory in services and/ormeetings required by other regulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.

6.           Present a professional, caringimage.

7.           Must be able to handle emergencysituations and associated stress.

Essential duties/Responsibilities

1.          Responds to resident emergencycalls, alarms and investigate disturbances. Understands and operates facilityalarm system.

2.          Makes scheduled rounds throughoutentire facility and grounds as scheduled using current tour documentationsystem.

3.          Patrols all premises to preventand detect any circumstances that may result in harm to individuals orproperty. Maintain personal safety. Observes shift change at time clocks, doors,or as directed to ensure security of staff and facility.

4.          Enter daily log reports of dailyactivities and incident reports for irregularities such as equipment orproperty damage, theft, unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.

5.          Warn Residents, Staff, visitors,and contractors of policy violations and apprehend (cause) or evict violatorfrom premises.

6.          Escort or drive motor vehicle totransport individuals to specified locations and to provide personalprotection.

7.          Circulate among residents,staff, visitors, and contractors to preserve order and protect property.

8.          Monitor cameras to prevent anddetect signs of intrusion and ensure security or doors, windows, and grounds.Assists with reception relief.

9.          Assists maintenance, housekeeping,and nursing with various tasks to ensure the smooth running of the facility.Assists in minor snow removal.

10.      Participates in the on-callprogram to provide emergency services to the facility.

11.      Other duties as assigned.

VISION

 

·       Must be able to visuallyidentify and discern printed words on either typewritten pages or computerscreen.

HEARING

 

·       Must be able to respond tospoken words and other auditory sounds including the ringing of telephone orbeepers and monitors.

·       Must be able to respond andcommunicate orally by telephone.

 

LIFTING

 

·       Must be able to bend, reach andlift patients with assistance to transport them to stretchers/wheelchairs.

·       Heavy lifting required (over 50pounds occasionally).

·       Must be able to push andmaneuver carts/stretchers/space saver loaded with weights of 50 pounds.

 

TOOLS ANDEQUIPMENT

 

·       Must be able to use, operate andinterpret information from equipment in work area.

 

RANGE OFMOTION

 

·       Must be able to climb (laddersand such) and be able to reach and balance from the ladders.

·       Must be able to walk continuallyfor 2 hours.

·       Must be able to stand for 2hours.

·       Must be able to sit for up totwo hours.

·       Must have mobility of all partsof the body, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching above head and use ofhands.            

·       Must be able to stand and/ormobilize by walking for up to 90% of an 8 hour shift.

 

 

 

WORKINGCONDITIONS

 

·       May be required to work nearvoltages (up to 480 volts AC).

·       May have to work in hot (over 80degrees F) or cold (under 10 degrees F) environment.

·       Must be able to work understress.

·       Must be able to work overtime.  

·       Must be able to deal withverbally and physically combative customers.

·       Must be able to work out ofdoors in varying types of weather.

·       Must be able to utilize or wearprotective equipment or apparel in accordance with OSHA standards.

·       Must be able to work withinconfined spaces.

 

MENTALCAPACITY

 

·       Must have mental capacity tofulfill the requirements of the job including problem solving, logic,communication and numerical calculations.

·       Must be able to read, speak, andunderstand written instructions in English.

·       Accurate recall and memory.
