Job Summary

Performs all advertised services in shop, i.e. shampoo and sets, haircuts, manicures, etc. for residents.

SALARY

Required Education, Experience, Skills, Licensure

REQUIRED EDUCATION,EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSURE:

 

1.                 High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience required.

2.                 Current Cosmetologist License required.

3.                 Experience in a beauty shop setting preferred.

Job Requirements

1.                 Support the mission and purpose of SVWC.

2.                 Support the Board of Trustees and Administration.

3.                 Present a professional, caring image.

4.                 Employment and annual Tuberculosis testing as required by VirginiaState Licensure.

5.                 Must attend annual mandatory in-services required by the StateLicensure and all other mandatory in-services and/or meeting required by otherregulatory                     agencies and/or by SVWC.

6.                 Follows and supports the policies and procedures established by SVWC.

7.                 Practice good customer relations at all times.

Essential duties/Responsibilities

1.                 Books appointments for clientele.

2.                 Performs all advertised services in shop, i.e., shampoo and sets,haircuts, manicures, etc. for all residents.

3.                 Promotes shop and services to new residents.

4.                 Attends one hair/beauty shop seminar per year to increase skills and becurrent with styles and procedures.

5.                 Communicates effectively with Health Center personnel in the handlingand the needs of Health Center residents.

6.                 Completes accounting receipts for services rendered.

7.                 Keeps shop clean and attractive by sweeping and mopping the floors,dusting, wiping walls, organizing supplies, etc.

8.                 Reports any changes and/or unusual events regarding residents tosupervisor.

9.                 Ability to work as a team with other staff for benefit of residents.

10.             Other duties as assigned.

VISION

·       Must be able to visually identify and discern printed words on eithertypewritten pages or computer screen.

·       Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.

·       Must have depth perception within normal ranges.

 

HEARING

 

·       Must be able to respond to spoken words and other auditory soundsincluding the ringing of telephone or beepers and monitors.

·       Must be able to respond and communicate orally by telephone.

 

LIFTING

 

·        Must be able to bend, reach and lift patients with assistance totransport them to stretchers/wheelchairs.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

 

·       Must be able to use, operate and interpret information from equipmentin work area.

 

SPEECH

 

·       Must be able to verbally communicate in the English language directlyand over the telephone and be understood.

 

RANGE OF MOTION

 

·       Must have mobility for all parts of the body, walking, bending,lifting, reaching above head and use of hands.

·       Must be able to kneel or squat for 1 of an 8 hour shift.

·       Must be able to stand for 4 hours straight.

·       Some tasks may require sitting for 10% of the workday.

·       Must be able to stand and/or mobilize by walking for 90% of an 8-hourshift.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

·       Must be able to work under stress

·       Must be able to work “on call” (some employees on occasion.)

·       Must be able to deal with verbally and physically combative patients.

·       Must be able to utilize or wear protective equipment or apparel inaccordance with OSHA standards.

·       Must have mental capacity to fulfill the requirements of the jobincluding problem solving, logic, communication and numerical calculations.

·       Must be able to read and understand written instructions in English.

·       Accurate recall and memory.
