Job Summary
Perform housekeeping duties in assigned areas to include but not limited to vacuuming, high and low dusting, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, etc. Washes and dries bed and bath linens.
SALARY
Required Education, Experience, Skills, Licensure
1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
2. Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.

4. Employment and annual Tuberculosis testing as required by Virginia State Licensure.
5. Must attend mandatory in services required by the State Licensure and all other mandatory in services and/or meetings required by other regulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.
6. Follows and supports the policies and procedures established by SVWC.
Essential duties/Responsibilities
1. Cleans bathroom toilets, sinks, mirrors and tubs, mop floors and any other general cleaning to be done in the bathroom(s).
2. Cleans kitchens to include surface cleaning of counter tops and appliances, cabinets, and mopping floors, etc.
3. Responsible for stripping beds of sheets and pillow cases and putting clean sheets and pillow cases on the beds.
4. Responsible for washing and drying bed and bath linen using automatic washers and dryers.
5. Maintains and updates laundry schedule.
6. Performs high and low dusting.
7. Washes windows inside and out and washes patio doors.
8. Responsible for floor care which includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and spot cleaning the carpets.
9. Restocks paper towels, soap dispensers, toilet paper, and empties trash when needed.
10. Responsible for cleaning other areas as assigned to include activity rooms, dining rooms, soiled and clean utility rooms, bathrooms, lounges, etc.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Category A: The person holding this position understands Universal Precautions Classification categories apply to this position and the individual may be exposed to AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue procedures or other job related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category A tasks. Hepatitis B Vaccine series of three injections over period of six months (at 0, 1, and 5 months) work be offered at no cost within 10 days of employment. Request/Declination of Immunization Employee Waiver must be signed. If the employee reuses the Hepatitis B Vaccine initially, it may be requested at a later date. If an employee begins the series and leaves employment, SVWC is under no obligation to complete the series.

VISION
· Mustbe able to visually identify and discern printed words on either typewrittenpages or computer screen.
· Mustbe able to identify and differentiate colors.
· Musthave depth perception within normal ranges.
HEARING
· Mustbe able to respond to spoken words and other auditory sounds including theringing of telephone or beepers and monitors.
· Mustbe able to respond and communicate orally by telephone.
LIFTING
· Liftingrequired (over 50 pounds occasionallyand 20 pounds repetitively).
· Mustbe able to push and maneuver carts/stretchers/space saver loaded with weightsof pounds.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
· Mustbe able to maneuver 80lbs. (HousekeepingCart) for 8 hours.
· Mustbe able to handle power tools for 50 % of an 8 hour shift.
· Mustbe able to use, operate and interpret information from equipment in work area.
SPEECH
· Mustbe able to verbally communicate in the English language directly and over thetelephone and be understood.
RANGE OF MOTION
· Mustbe able to climb (ladders and such) and be able to reach and balance from theladders.
· Mustbe able to kneel or squat for 4 of an 8 hour shift.
· Mustbe able to walk continually for 8 hours.
· Mustbe able to stand for 8 hours straight.
· Musthave mobility of all parts of the body, walking, bending, lifting, reachingabove head and use of hands.
· Mustbe able to stand and /or mobilize by walking for 100 % of an 8 hour shift.
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Mustbe able to work under stress.
· Mustbe able to work overtime (and some employees work rotation or call schedules).
· Mustbe able to deal with verbally and physically combative patients.
· Mustbe able to utilize or wear protective equipment or apparel in accordance withOSHA standards
MENTAL CAPACITY
· Musthave mental capacity to fulfill the requirements of the job including problemsolving, logic, communication and numerical calculations.
· Mustbe able to read and understand written instructions in English.
· Accuraterecall and memory.
· Mustbe able to use judgment in making decisions and choices.
Abilityto analyze numbers and make basic mathematical calculations.
