Job Summary

Coordinates and directs all facets of Dining Services during Production hours. Includes supervision of staff, monitors all dining rooms, oversees preparation of food and acts as communication point for Dining Services Department and other duties assigned by Manager.

SALARY

Required Education, Experience, Skills, Licensure

1.                 High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experiencerequired.

2.                 Previous supervisory experience in Food Servicepreferred.

3.                 Certified Food Service Manager in Sanitation preferred.

4.                 Computer literacy preferred.

Job Requirements

1.                 Support the mission and purpose of SVWC.

2.                 Support the Board of Trustees and Administration.

3.                 Present a professional, caring image.

4.                 Employment and annual Tuberculosis testing as requiredby Virginia State Licensure.

5.                 Must attend annually mandatory inservices required bythe State Licensure and all other mandatory inservices and/or meeting requiredby other regulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.

6.                 Follows and supports the policies and procedures establishedby SVWC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.                 Coordinates and directs all staff.

2.                 Provides program guidance daily to all DS staff in allservice points to ensure SVWC DS standard are met.

3.                 Monitors preparation and service of all food forquality, quantity and temperature at lunch and dinner.

4.                 Circulates in all the dining service venues duringmealtimes to optimize resident satisfaction.

5.                 Works w/DS management team to work as both and openingand closing supervisor.

6.                 Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and SVWCpolicies and procedures.

7.                 Maintains all FOH required audits for DS.

8.                 Communicates with other Dining Services Supervisorystaff on a daily basis.

9.                 Completes bi-weekly schedule for Bistro, Care, Tavernand MDR w/partnership.

10.            Responsible for end of month paperwork.

11.            Creates and edits Sodexo Menu Graphics Daily Menus.

12.            Upgrades menus and Point of Sale system as necessary.

13.            Monitors all vending operations.

14.            Work w/DS management team to ensure proper opening,daily and closing operational standards are adhered to by DS staff.

15.            Must be dressed in appropriate and complete uniformwhich is neat and clean.

16.            Work w/FOH DS management to ensure all catered eventsare 100% up to expected standards.

17.            Other duties as assigned.

VISION

·       Must be able to visually identify and discernprinted words on either typewritten pages or computer screen.

·       Must be able to respond to spoken words andother auditory sounds including the ringing of telephone or beepers andmonitors.

·       Must be able to respond and communicate orallyby telephone.

 

LIFTING

 

·       Must be able to push and maneuvercarts/stretchers/space saver loaded with weights of 10 pounds.

·       Heavy lifting required (over 10 poundsoccasionally and 5 pounds repetitively from ground level to should height.)

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

 

·       Must be able to use, operate and interpretinformation form equipment in work area.

·       Must be able to maneuver a 200 pound Alto Shamfor 2 hours out of an 8 hour shift.

 

SPEECH

 

·       Must be able to verbally communicate in theEnglish language directly and over the telephone and be understood.

 

RANGE OF MOTION

 

·       Must have mobility for all parts of the body,walking, bending, lifting, reaching above head and use of hands.

·       Must be able to kneel or squat for 4 of an 8hour shift.

·       Must be able to walk continually for 7 hours.

·       Must be able to stand and/or mobilize by walkingfor 98% of an 8 hour shift.

·       Some tasks may require sitting for 2% of thework day.

·       Must have manual dexterity, fine motor skills(typing, computer, etc.)

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

·       May be required to work near or with voltages(up to 480 volts AC.)

·       May have to work in hot (over 90 degrees F) orcold (under 0 degrees F) environment.

·       Must be able to work under stress.

·       Must be able to work overtime.

·       Must be able to work a rotating shift.

·       Must be able to work “on call.”

·       Must be able to deal with verbally andphysically combative residents.

·       Must be able to utilize or wear protectiveequipment or apparel in accordance with OSHA standards.

 

MENTAL CAPACITY

 

·       Must have mental capacity to fulfill therequirements of the job including problem solving, logic, communication andnumerical calculations.

·       Must be able to read and understand writteninstructions in English.

·       Accurate recall and memory.
