Job Summary
Responsible for the leading daily activities of SVWC to include but not limited to: programming, assistance with planning, providing support and education for participants and families, provide accurate documentation for both state and federal regulations provide one on one activities as assigned and responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of all residents.
SALARY
$14.00/h - $18.75/h
Required Education, Experience, Skills, Licensure
1. High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
2. Previous work experience preferred two (2) years involving organizedgroup activities with a senior living audience
3. Certification as an Activities Professional preferred but not required (NCCAP(AAC,ADC, ADPC) or MEPEP)
4. Computer skills & knowledge of current technology.
Job Requirements

4. Employment and annual Tuberculosis testing as required by VirginiaState Licensure.
5. Must attend annually mandatory in-services required by the StateLicensure and all other mandatory in-services and/or meeting required by otherregulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.
6. Follows and supports the policies and procedures established by SVWC.
Essential duties/Responsibilities
1. Insure implementation of SVWC activities program policies andprocedures.
2. Responsible for transporting residents to and from activities, encouragingand reminding residents of scheduled activities 30 minutes prior to theactivity.
3. Lead group/individual activities of the program.
4. Monitor and document participation in each individual and groupactivity.
5. Maintain accurate participant records in accordance with licensingstandards and regulations.
6. Participate in and complete documentation for Care Plans, Minimum DataSets and Individual Service Plans.
7. Attend and assist with group outings.
8. Assist with the coordination of needed volunteers.
9. Responsible for following policies and procedures relating to thesafety of participants and staff. Oversees the safety of the residents.
10. Advocate for safety and protection of all participants.
11. Practice effective communication techniques with participants, familiesand co-workers.
12. Respect participant rights (e.g. address participant by name, allowparticipant to make decisions, etc.)
13. Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation ofindividual and group activities.
14. Keep equipment, supplies, and participant furniture clean.
15. Keep environment clean. Reporthousekeeping and maintenance needs.
16. Inform Director of Resident Services concerning psychosocialneeds/approaches related to the residents or families.
17. Report to Director of Resident Services changes in participant status,resident’s responses to programming, equipment and supply needs,repair/maintenance needs, safety hazards, unusual occurrences or observations,problems with completion of assignments or scheduling.
18. Direct participant and family complaints to Director of ResidentServices.
19. Responsible for developing activity calendar monthly and submit toDirector of Resident Services for review.
20. Responsible for keeping activity storage areas organized.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.

VISION
· Must be able to visually identify and discern printed words on eithertypewritten pages or computer screen.
· Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.
· Must have depth perception within normal ranges.
HEARING
· Must be able to respond to spoken words and other auditory soundsincluding the ringing of telephone or beepers and monitors.
· Must be able to respond and communicate orally by telephone.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
· Must be able to use, operate and interpret information from equipmentin work area.
LIFTING
· Must be able to bend, reach andlift patients with assistance to transport them to stretchers/wheelchairs.
· Heavy lifting required (over 50pounds occasionally and 25 pounds repetitively from ground level to shoulderheight)
· Must be able to push andmaneuver carts/stretchers/space saver loaded with weights of 200 pounds.
SPEECH
· Must be able to verbally communicate in the English language directlyand over the telephone and be understood.
RANGE OF MOTION
· Must have mobility for all parts of the body, walking, bending,lifting, and reaching above head and use of hands.
· Must be able to stand and/or mobilize by walking for majority of an8-hour shift.
· Some tasks may require sitting for part of the workday.
· Must have manual dexterity, fine motor skills (typing, computer, etc.)
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Must be able to work under stress
· Must be able to work overtime (and some employees work rotation or callschedules.)
MENTAL CAPACITY
· Must have mental capacity to fulfill the requirements of the jobincluding problem solving, logic, communication and numerical calculations.
