Great Decisions 2023 Program

We will again host the Great Decisions 2023 program, in person this year. If you are not familiar with Great Decisions, according to the Foreign Policy Association’s (FPA) website, it is America's most extensive discussion program on world affairs. The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching a streamed video presentation, and meeting with a discussion group for approximately an hour to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. FASCINATING topics will be covered, eight consecutive Tuesdays, in the Abbey from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

¨ March 14 - Climate Change/Environmental Degradation & Migration—Charles Hagen / Retired Anesthesiologist & Activist on Climate Change

¨ March 21 - Iran at a Crossroads—Cal Allen / Emeritus Dean, Shen. University’s College of Arts and Sciences

¨ March 28 – War Crimes: What are They? How Can They be Prosecuted? —Patrick Farris, Anthropology Instructor, Shepherd University

¨ April 4 – Famine: A Renewed Threat in the 21st Century? —Richard Byess / Retired Foreign Service Officer (USAID)

¨ April 11 – Energy Security—Patrick Farris / Anthropology Instructor, Shepherd University

¨ April 18 – China & America: Back to the Future? —Jeff Coker / Dean of Arts & Sciences, Shenandoah University

¨ April 25 – Economic Warfare & U.S. Policy—Mark Lore / Retired Foreign Service Officer (State)
