Ways to Give

granddaughterYour tax-deductible gift to SVWC Foundation can make a difference in many ways. Gifts may be directed to a particular purpose or undesignated, which allows the Foundation to direct the funds where they are most needed.

The Foundation’s fiscal year is January 1–December 31, and contributions will be recognized yearly as such. Programs may also be supported on a multi-year basis if desired.

We are grateful for your generosity!

Make a Gift in Honor or in Memory

Was there someone special in your life that you would like to remember in a meaningful way? Is there a treasured neighbor, friend or family member that you would like to honor? A gift to the SVWC Foundation will help others in need. You may direct your donation to a particular program or leave it undesignated for use where it is most needed.Feel free to make a gift online or send us your gift by mail. We will send a letter to the individual that you designate, informing him or her of your thoughtfulness, without disclosing the amount.

Efforts are made to celebrate those who make tribute gifts, along with those who have been honored, in many Foundation communications. We hope as you peruse these materials, you will find joy in celebrating with us the thoughtfulness and generosity of these donors and in remembering those who have been honored in this fashion.

(Gifts may be made anonymously, should you not want to be featured in these materials.)

Transfer Stock or Securities

Making a tax-advantaged gift by donating stock is easy and quick. Donors transferring stock pay no capital gains tax or brokers’ sales commission. The amount of the deduction is based on the stock’s fair market value on the date the shares transfer to the SVWC Foundation. The average of the high and low prices on that day determines fair market value. Email Todd Lilley, call him at (540) 665-5923, or ask your financial advisor or securities broker to contact her on your behalf.

Transfer from an IRA

Depending on legislation in a given year, you may be able to make a direct distribution from your IRA to charity. You can also make the SVWC Foundation the beneficiary of your IRA. For more information, contact the SVWC Foundation at (540) 665-5923.

Give the Gift of Life Insurance

Donors can use paid-up life insurance policies to make gifts to the Foundation. At an earlier time in life, life insurance was a priority to protect family members, and may now have outlasted its need. When a policy is donated, the Foundation becomes the owner and beneficiary, the donors take an income tax charitable deduction for the cash value of the policy at the time of the gift, and they can designate how the gift is to be used.

Make a Corporate-matched Contribution

If you work for, or are retired from, a company that offers corporate matching, you can double your gift to the SVWC Foundation. Call your Human Resources Department to inquire. If your company matches gifts, sign and mail the matching gift form to:
