“What if I outlive my assets or exhaust them through no fault of my own?”
Many people share those worries. Even the most careful planners can suffer financial setbacks. Residents come to SVWC seeking a lifetime of security.
SVWC’s Fellowship Fund provides a safety net to alleviate the fears of those individuals with significant, documented financial needs.
Since SVWC opened in 1987, no resident has had to leave his or her home due to a lack of financial resources.
Qualified residents receive confidential assistance, so they can continue to live here in dignity. The fund was also established to enable entry for those who might not otherwise be able to afford the cost.
In addition to supporting fees, the Fellowship Fund may distribute aid to residents receiving Medicaid who require assistance with small personal expenditures (such as hair appointments, planned activities sponsored by SVWC, etc.) to ensure that they maintain the same quality of life as other residents living at SVWC.
Made available entirely by charitable donations from residents, families and friends, the Fellowship Fund has provided $1.9 million in assistance to residents in need. The Foundation typically grants anywhere from $50,000 to $185,000 in Fellowship Fund assistance each year.
“People support one another here. Our computer guru goes around helping people with their computers. In the wood shop, we don’t take any money for the work we do. Instead, people make a donation to the Fellowship Fund. This place wouldn’t run without the people!” – George B.
Thanks to your gifts to the Fellowship Fund:
- Our recipients are currently existing residents and both of them are women who are single or widowed.
- In 2014, two recipients received over $75,000 in assistance.
- Fellowship aid is supported by gifts to the Fund and income from the Fellowship Fund endowment.
- All Fellowship grants are covered solely through charitable gifts, never as part of full-pay resident fees.
