Farley Massey & Julie
Local celebrities Farley Massey and her dog Julie have touched many lives in Winchester through their volunteer work at area hospitals. A certified Animal Assisted Therapy Dog, Julie has helped patients through their recovery and can now add “author” to her resume. The canine shared her experiences living at Westminster-Canterbury in a book she co-authored with Farley. A Westminster-Canterbury resident for over twelve years, Farley is one of the founding board members of the community. She and the other founders could see twenty years ago the vision and now the reality of this special place. Farley has seen many changes over the past two decades. Most significant is how aging has changed and how people now plan for their future. Farley’s plan is to continue to travel and volunteer, both in her church and at Westminster-Canterbury. Farley has served on numerous committees at the community and will be president of the Residents’ Association next year. Staying active, Farley loves the new Vitality Center, especially the water aerobics and fitness machines. Julie keeps in shape with regular testing for her therapy registration and through her walks around the community’s nature trails. Volunteerism is second nature to Farley and Julie, and together they will continue to share their talents, their time and their love of community.
