ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ruth Farley Massey is "Julie's" human companion and the author. She has been closely involved with continuing care retirement living from an initial feasibility study through building and marketing such a facility. She was a member of the first Board of Trustees of the Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury before becoming an independent cottage resident over seven years ago.

Currently Farley Massey is a member of the Residents' Executive Committee in her facility, and also serves on the Virginia Diocesan Homes Board, which represents six Continuing Care Retirement Communities. She is a graduate of Boston University, Sargent College with a degree in Physical Therapy, as well as a masters degree in Education from James Madison University. Farley is the founding director of Camp Rim Rock, a premier private camp for girls located in the east. She has always loved dogs, and especially this one named "Julie".
